[SatNews] ORBIT Communication Systems announced that it has won a contract to supply its Gaia-100 Earth observation ground station solution to a leading Space Agency in Europe.

Gaia-100 | 2.4m-4.5m

The Space Agency is an ORBIT customer and has been using the company's Tracking and Telemetry solutions for tracking and communicating with its satellites. To meet its Earth observations needs, the space agency evaluated several ground station solutions, and selected ORBIT’s Gaia-100 offering in a 3.7m configuration with support for S-band and X-band frequencies. The Gaia-100 solution will be used by the space agency for downloading imagery and data from and uploading telecommands to LEO satellites.

According to Ofer Greenberger, ORBIT's CEO, "We are proud to have been selected once again by this leading space agency. The Gaia system was developed during 2014 as a unique solution for the Earth observation market and as part of the company's growth strategy. The system is an end-to-end ground station solution, incorporating a state-of-the-art tracking antenna system and a complete RF chain to meet today’s communication requirements."

The Gaia-100 series is a compact, high-performance ground station solution for tracking Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites in Earth observation and remote sensing applications. The innovative Gaia-100 is designed specifically for GIS experts, value added service providers and researchers looking to download real-time data and reduce operational costs. The Gaia-100 ground station is built for use in a broad range of challenging applications, with the ruggedness to withstand extreme weather conditions.
