[SatNews] SatNews met with Donna Tal, Director of Marketing Communications at AMOS Spacecom (in photo at right) at IBC2010, and they are busy planning for the AMOS-5 launch in mid-2011. Spacecom is located at booth1.C36 and represents the AMOS satellites constellation consisting of AMOS-2 and AMOS-3 co-located at 4°W orbital position, and AMOS-5i at 17°E. The AMOS platform delivers broadband and broadcasting services in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In addition, the AMOS satellites are helpful as they create a 'Hot-Spot' for Central Eastern Europe where the satellites’ transmissions are received by most cable head-ends.

The AMOS-5i satellite began service in January 2010, with powerful C-band and Ku-band coverage over Africa. AMOS-5 is scheduled to replace AMOS-5i at 17°E in mid-2011, expanding both coverage areas and capacity, while delivering high-power C-band and Ku-band capacity to the entire African continent. AMOS-4, slated for launch in 2012 to serve Asia, together with AMOS-6 planned for launch in 2013 to enhance our Europe coverage, will establish Spacecom as an emerging global satellite operator.

The extensive signal strength and prime location makes the AMOS platform particularly suitable for DTH operators, TV broadcasters and programmers in distribution to cable head-ends, ISPs with broadband Internet and VSAT networks, Government organizations and professional services, VSAT operators and network integrators with Internet, voice, data and digital TV services.
