SES Government Solutions (SES-GS) announced the passing of their Corporate Vice President of Corporate Development, Dr. James Scheimer.

“We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Dr. James Scheimer at his home in Vienna, Virginia on September 2, 2012. Jim has been a remarkable contributor to the industry, and a valued member of our team since 2007.  The advancements he made in the development of our organization are beyond measure, and he will always be remembered as a cherished friend to all of us at SES-GS,” said Tip Osterthaler, President and CEO of SES Government Solutions.

Before joining SES Government Solutions as the Chief Technology Officer in 2007, Dr. Scheimer served as Vice President and Senior Scientist for Systems Engineering at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).  His impressive contributions both to industry and research began at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1978, where his assignments involved treaty verification, system architecture and project management of highly complex operations for diverse government customers such as the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy. 

Dr. Scheimer earned his bachelors of science in Physics and masters in Geophysics from Stanford University, and completed his Ph.D. in Seismology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the church of The Holy Comforter located at 543 Beulah Road, NE, Vienna, Virginia, 22180.
