KVH Stays on Trac and Gives Free Boost to Mini-VSAT

KVH KVH's [Nasdaq: KVHI] newest satellite communications compression technology now offers a free additional boost to mini-VSAT Broadband data rates for TracPhone V7 users. Already a popular item, the TracPhone V7 is a compact size, has a rugged design, offers lower costs, and speedy broadband data connections, which is appreciated by both leisure and commercial mariners. The newTracPhone® V7 and mini-VSAT Broadband service from KVH Industries, Inc., supports Internet and Voice over IP telephone services at sea. Just weeks after announcing its plan to dramatically expand service coverage around the globe, KVH now offers a new enhancement to the mini-VSAT Broadband service's performance, the latest edition of its Velocity Acceleration software, providing a significant boost to mini-VSAT Broadband's already fast data rates.

This software package, free to all TracPhone V7 users, incorporates on-the-fly content compression software that increases the speed and efficiency of e-mail, data transmissions, FTP (File Transfer Protocol), and web browsing, especially on the ship-to-shore uplink. "The addition of Velocity Acceleration means that our TracPhone V7 customers will enjoy an additional boost in their already-fast data rates when they take advantage of this PC-compatible software. The software and the benefits it offers, especially when you are sending data, are entirely free to existing and new TracPhone V7 users, with no charge to download it and no charge to install or use it," says Rick Driscoll, KVH's product line director.

KVH-military The compact 24-inch (60 cm) KVH TracPhone V7 antenna and the mini-VSAT Broadband service currently offer regional Voice over IP telephone service and Internet access as fast as 512 Kbps (upload) and 2 Mbps (download) at fixed monthly rates to mariners throughout North America, the Caribbean, the North Atlantic, and Europe. Under the terms of a recently announced agreement, KVH and ViaSat, manufacturer of ArcLight® spread spectrum mobile broadband technology, are now planning to roll out an exclusive global network offering access to KVH's mini-VSAT Broadband service for maritime use.
