451 Research's Webinar Cuts Through The Internet of Things Hype... Tackles Security + Connectivity

[SatNews] Nearly every type of business that exists today can employ IoT systems to create cost savings and efficiencies or support new business models...Now there's a webinar that cuts through the hype...

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnected set of intelligent devices and objects designed specifically to enable the virtualization of the physical world.  The devices can create new value, services and perspectives from the sharing and analysis of their observations of the world around them. IoT encompasses simple tags that convey identity and location, devices with sensors and the computational capacity to provide and communicate results, the gateways and communications facilities to share and distribute that data, and the digital infrastructure to store, analyze and present it to consumers. Nearly every type of business that exists today can employ IoT systems to create cost savings and efficiencies or support new business models. IoT will form the core value propositions for new businesses. It will revolutionize the way we work, entertain ourselves, monitor our health, interact with friends, manage our homes and move around.

Industrial IoT Systems
As one of the IoT uses with the deepest history, industrial IoT links a range of commercial uses, and has grown out of Machine to Machine (M2M) and telematics technologies. It encompasses the interconnection of industrial systems from huge to tiny, and can link across the shop floor or around the globe. Hydroelectric dams can integrate sensors for power, vibration, seismic, environment and more. Agricultural applications can meld animal and plant health, weather information, and soil nutrient and moisture data. Many of these applications use closed or secured communications networks.

Webinar without the hype...

Tue, Jun 16, 2015 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM PDT

Register here.

During this webinar, Brian Partridge, Vice President Research, and Eric Hanselman, Chief Analyst, will address key developments across the IoT ecosystem and define IoT, provide practical data points on market adoption and demand-side opportunities, and help you cut through all the hype.

Brian and Eric will discuss the key areas of innovation including IoT security and connectivity architectures (with an update on LTE-M and low-power alternatives), along with the role of cloud, APIs, middleware and IoT data management platforms.

Come armed with your own questions—there will be time for Q&A at the end of the session.
