CNN Captures The Moment With SES Capacity Deal... + So Does DRS Technologies


SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES, a division of SES S.A.SES , has signed a five year distribution and contribution agreement with Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) for CNN delivery to and from Europe and the Middle East.

NSS-7 satellite (SES NEW SKIES) Under this agreement, Turner is tapping two transponders of capacity (72 megahertz in total) aboard the NSS-7 satellite, which has the reach to deliver CNN International to viewers across the EMEA region. This satellite is also providing the backhaul of CNN news reports from CNN's London, Moscow, Jerusalem, and Baghdad bureaus.

When talking capacity , the Company has also revealed DRS Technologies has renewed a major agreement for 160 megahertz of satellite capacity for the DRS Technologies Global Communications Network (GCN) to enable a broad range of mission-critical military apps around the world. DRS Technologies is using C- and Ku-band capacity on 14 beams across four SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES satellites. They are: NSS-9, NSS-6, NSS-7, and NSS-703. Also in the deal is uplink services at strategic global teleports and access points to meet the proprietary voice, video, and data comms needs of civilian and government agencies and military forces anywhere in the world.
