ULA Preps For Heavy Lifting... NROL With The Punches (Launch)

[SatNews] to deliver the classified payload to orbit for the United States National Reconnaissance Office.

As of Monday everything is progressing for the National Reconnaissance Office (NROL-65) launch. The mission is set to liftoff on a ULA Delta IV Heavy on Wednesday, August 28 from Space Launch Complex 6 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The launch is scheduled for 10:52 a.m. PDT. Monday’s L-2 forecast shows a 70 percent chance of favorable weather conditions for launch.

Monday a clean Launch Readiness Review was conducted and the United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy Rocket has been declared ready for liftoff. The huge rocket is planned to blast off on Wednesday at 17:52 UTC to deliver the classified NROL-65 payload to orbit for the United States National Reconnaissance Office.

 

Final launch preparations begin late on Tuesday with technicians working with hands-on to close out the heavy launch vehicle. Following that on launch day the Mobile Service Tower will be retracted and in the launch position.
