SES S.A. (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) is going to support Luxembourg’s presence at Expo 2020 in Dubai.
The world exhibition with the overall theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” will take place between October 2020 and April 2021 in the United Arab Emirates with a main theme developed through three spheres: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. Focusing on Luxembourg’s strengths in economic and technological innovation and diversification, Luxembourg’s pavilion will explore the key topic “Resourceful Luxembourg.” SES supports the Grand Duchy and the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy with two other partners, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and POST Luxembourg.
Karim Michel Sabbagh, President and CEO of SES, commented that SES is an excellent example of Luxembourg’s global reach. Covering 99 percent of the planet and connecting more than a billion people every day, SES demonstrates how a small country can have an impact well beyond its frontiers and even reach the most remote corners of the world. Étienne Schneider, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, added that the United Arab Emirates are a most important commercial partner of Luxembourg in the Gulf region. In promoting innovation and sustainable development, the profile of Expo 2020 perfectly aligns with Luxembourg's national approach of global economic diversification, especially with reference to the space sector and information and communication technologies. Dubai is the first Arab city in the world to host a universal expo that expects more than 25 million visitors. This participation offers a unique opportunity to highlight Luxembourg’s strengths on the international scene, and particularly in the Middle East.
