The Global VSAT Forum (GVF) today announced it will be demonstrating its global SNG training program on its stand at IBC (6.B05) from September 13th – 17th.

The GVF training program, which was developed for GVF by SatProf, delivers a highly-effective blend of simulator-driven, interactive, self-paced online knowledge training, verification of hands-on skills, and optional supplementary classes. It is delivered by GVF and its partners worldwide for VSAT, broadband, and maritime satellite terminal technicians, engineers users, and operators.

GVF recently collaborated with the Radio Frequency Interference – End Users Initiative (RF-EUI) to develop a test for Advanced Technical Operator (ATO), aimed at occasional user satellite uplink users, such as SNG van/truck operators and teleport uplink technicians.

GVF will also be collaborating with IRG on a number of forums discussing satellite interference prevention. The program includes a workshop on Earth station testing and another on training, aimed at educating users on these initiatives and how they can help drastically reduce satellite interference.

“Most of the cases of satellite interference are caused by human error or equipment failure, therefore training operators and testing equipment are extremely effective tools for reducing interference before it occurs,” commented David Hartshorn, Secretary General, GVF. “Visitors to our stand will be able to get a real taste of our courses and better understand how they can make a real impact.”

GVF is the single and unified voice of the global satellite industry.  Founded in 1997, it brings together organizations engaged in the delivery of advanced broadband and narrowband satellite services to consumers, and commercial and government enterprises worldwide.  Headquartered in London, GVF is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization with 230+ members from more than 100 countries.  The broad-based membership represents every major world region and every sector of the satellite industry, including fixed and mobile satellite operators, satellite network operators, teleports, satellite Earth station manufacturers, system integrators, value-added and enhanced service providers, telecom carriers, consultants, law firms, and users.
