MILCOM 2010... An Energizing Event

[SatNews] Brigadier Andy Bristow, Member, Royal College of Defence Studies and, until recently, Chief G6 and Director of Command and Battlespace Management, Headquarters United Kingdom’s Land Forces, is confirmed as the luncheon speaker on Tuesday, November 2nd, for MILCOM 2010.

He brings a broad coalition perspective to this world premier military communications conference. Brigadier Bristow supported the UK’s effort to liberate Kuwait and Kosovo. He also mentored senior Iraqi military leaders, assisting the UK’s withdrawal from the Basrah province. Also added to the conference is the technology industry panel on Wednesday morning, November 3rd, featuring representatives from Hewlett Packard, Dreamworks, eBay and Armorize. The panel will discuss trends in the consumer industry and implications for coalition security forces in the next 10 years. Topics include the evolution of computing platforms, cloud computing, defense against malicious network and information collection attacks, user/machine interactions, machine-to-machine interaction, integration across various communications media, and management of the information explosion. Now in its 29th year, MILCOM is one of the largest government/industry conferences in the world, and the premier technical communications, networking and information-sharing event of its kind. More than 5,000 people from 30 countries are expected to attend this annual gathering, which draws professionals from government, scientific, academic and engineering communities, contractors, allies, and top international educational institutions. There are three executive panels and 24 technical panels covering topics such as advances in information technology, military satellite communications, radio waveforms and cyber security. There are also in-depth tutorials addressing commercial wireless networking, cyber security and virtual wargames, digital video broadcasting, quantum communications, and coding and transport of motion imagery data. Panels and tutorials are offered for unclassified and classified audiences. To date, more than 800 papers have been received, with 400+ having been selected for presentation at this year’s conference.
