SES... Goes Italian...Sends A Bouquet (SatBroadcasting™)


[SatNews] They met, they agreed and now there's a bouquet with their name on it.

SES (NYSE Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today an agreement with RAI - Italian Radio and Television – for the transmission of an HD bouquet consisting of four High Definition TV channels from the ASTRA 19.2 degrees East orbital position. Leveraging on dual-LNB reception mode, and operated on a Tivusat platform, the four major RAI channels are visible (in encrypted free-to-view) in the entire Italian territory.

“SES satellites at 19.2 degrees East transmit over 850 TV channels, of which more than 150 are in HD," said Ferdinand Kayser, Chief Commercial Officer at SES. “We are pleased with the result we have achieved in Italy. Recognising SES’ role as a driver of HD growth in Europe, RAI trusts SES to provide capacity to enable its HD expansion in Italy. We are looking forward to working closely with this prominent customer and becoming a driver of HD growth in Italy as well."
