Intellian’s FleetBroadband + XpressLink Now Communicate Well O’er Water + Waves (SATCOM)

[SatNews] “...achieved great success in meeting the needs of ship owners thirsting for the broadband data speeds of VSAT combined with the reliability of L-band.”

FleetBroadband terminals manufactured by Intellian are now approved for use with Inmarsat XpressLink.

The fully-integrated Ku-band and L-band solution utilizes both VSAT and FleetBroadband terminals. XpressLink has become a highly popular option for ship owners around the world, providing broadband data and voice connectivity across a fully redundant and highly resilient service for a fixed monthly fee.

It also offers an easy upgrade path to Inmarsat’s forthcoming Ka-band network Global Xpress, which is expected to achieve full global coverage by the end of 2014.

“We have been working in partnership with Intellian since 2011 and are pleased to now be able to offer its high quality FleetBroadband terminals to XpressLink users,” said Frank Coles, President of Inmarsat Maritime.

“XpressLink has achieved great success in meeting the needs of ship owners thirsting for the broadband data speeds of VSAT combined with the reliability of L-band.

“Today, we are able to add the dependability and long-term security of Intellian FleetBroadband terminals to the XpressLink offering.”

Intellian and Inmarsat partnered in 2011 to begin development of Ka-band terminals for Global Xpress.

In March Intellian unveiled three new terminals designed to support all FleetBroadband services.
