ICEYE Appoints Seasoned Satellite Industry Vets to Vice President Positions

ICEYE has appointed Steve Young, a seasoned space and aerospace professional, as Vice President, Business Development and Sales, and Leola Moss as VP, Product Delivery and Operations — these appointments are a clear statement of ICEYE's intent to continue to deliver further value to the firm's customers with space-based radar imaging services.

Leola Moss (l) and Steve Young (r), newly named Vice Presidents for ICEYE.

Prior to joining ICEYE, Steve worked at BAE Systems, most recently as Campaign Director, Typhoon and Chief of Staff. In 2015, he helped co-found the New Space company Earth-i, a high-resolution satellite imaging provider, after a previous role as the Head of Business Development and Sales for Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL). In 2011, he was made fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. With Young’s guidance, ICEYE aims to develop its business alongside the company’s technology, service, value proposition and market offering.

Before joining ICEYE, Leola worked as the director of pipeline operations for Planet Labs and spent three years as a senior program manager for Google. Her extensive background includes positions at Skybox Imaging, GeoEye, Space Imaging, and the United States Air Force.

With the guidance of the new Vice Presidents, ICEYE aims to ensure ideal reliability and timeliness for the company’s SAR satellite data products and to exceed customer expectations with the rapidly increasing quantity of commercially accessible imaging capacity.

ICEYE launched its second satellite mission, ICEYE-X2, on December 3, 2018. ICEYE will launch additional SAR satellites throughout 2019 to extend the company’s SAR satellite constellation, supporting a wide range of governmental and commercial industries.

Executive Comments

Steve Young said the team at ICEYE is already delivering SAR imaging from satellites so small that such was deemed impossible until just a few years ago. The company is providing a value proposition that hasn't been available before now and all feel extremely privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of this exciting and innovative organization.

Leola Moss said ICEYE's SAR satellite constellation is growing at a substantial rate, with five more satellite launches already confirmed for this year. The radar data products the company already has available, and some are under development, and these will be a phenomenal upgrade to Earth Observation data users.

Rafal Modrzewski, CEO and co-founder, ICEYE, added that Steve Young and Leola Moss bring ICEYE the kind of experience and expertise that helps the company to focus on the value the firm creates for customers, while growth continues. ICEYE is looking forward to his contributions in supporting and furthering the firm’s goals to provide customers with the most timely, reliable SAR data available.
