Hughes To Support Florida Air Nat'l Guard With B'band Net


[Satnews] Hughes Network Systems, LLC has been awarded a contract by the Florida Army National Guard to provide a managed broadband network across select Florida National Guard locations.

The network, separate from the secured DoD network, will be used to deliver HughesON™ managed solutions, including high-speed Internet access and Wi-Fi services to National Guard personnel and their families and visitors.

Hughes will provide wireless Internet access for staff and visitors at up to 65 Florida National Guard armories, enabling email and streaming media services using their personal devices, as allowed by the provided content restriction system. With the Hughes managed Guest Wi-Fi solution, visitors will be directed to a welcome screen upon opening a browser, which will be populated with content developed by the Florida National Guard.
 
HughesON is a comprehensive suite of Cloud-friendly network and digital media solutions designed for the unique needs of distributed government agencies and departments. Under the contract, Hughes will provide proven products and services from the HughesON suite and install Wi-Fi access points and the broadband circuit as well as provide maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment throughout the duration of the contract. Specific deliverables to be provided by Hughes include:

  • Managed high-speed Internet and Wi-Fi connections
  • HughesON WAN performance optimization using ActiveTechnologies™
  • Commercial wireless access points and associated installations
  • Testing and acceptance
  • Customer service including technical support and on-site maintenance
  • Network monitoring
