Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ, TASE: GILT) has announced that their dual-band Ku-/Ka-band aero terminal achieved unprecedented performance at a live demonstration in China — the terminal reached speeds of 130 Mbps with dozens of concurrent users enjoying: browsing, video streaming, video and voice calls as well as various chat applications.

The demonstration occurred in a cabin user environment together with Air Esurfing, operating with Gilat’s fully integrated dual-band antenna terminal as well as the Taurus Modman. Gilat’s high-performance Modman as well as the high-gain antenna panel in Ka-band, were key factors in the outstanding results of the demonstration. Gilat’s fully deployed mobility baseband is already operational and in use on China’s first domestic HTS Ka-band satellite. The deployed network not only improved end-to-end results, but also significantly reduced the complete IFC system deployment time.

Gilat’s Ku/Ka antenna will be undergoing supplemental type certificate (STC) in the coming months.
