Thuraya Showcases Screamingly-Speedy Satellite Streaming Service

ThurayaIP Thuraya Telecommunications, is sharing their latest accomplishment at this week’s CABSAT MENA 2009, where it is showcasing the world’s first satellite solution offering streaming speeds of up to 384kbps. From the 3rd to the 5th of March, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Thuraya is providing live demonstrations of broadcast quality transmissions showing the speed and quality that can be achieved by media organizations and others operating in remote locations. The solution was developed specifically for media reporters, producers and news crews requiring broadcast quality video and high speed data transmission.

In partnership with Quicklink, a provider of broadcast media solutions, Thuraya’s Streaming IP offering is built around ThurayaIP, an advanced broadband solution with rapid streaming capability. This establishes the platform for providing broadcast quality video as well as data transmission in time critical and remote environments.

CABSAT “At CABSAT MENA 2009 Thuraya is presenting our full suite of voice and data solutions specifically developed to service media crews operating in remote hotspots where news-gathering is supremely challenging,“ said Thuraya’s Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, Mr. Ebrahim K. Ebrahim.

“The solution developed by Thuraya, in partnership with Quicklink, has never before been available to media crews, and the response from the industry has been overwhelming,” he added.

Mr. Ebrahim elaborated that, “In the media industry, where quality and speed are the critical measures of success, Thuraya has a unique capability to offer satellite communications in regions no other telecommunications company can reach.”

CABSAT MENA 2009 is the region’s foremost event for the media industry, showcasing products and services from broadcasters, news and media organizations, production companies, content owners and developers and system integrators. Building on the success of CABSAT, this year marks the launch of SATELLITE MENA to serve broadcasters, commercial entities, telecom operators, government and NGOs which are increasingly looking for effective scalable solutions.
