IRG @ Milsatcom Middle East... Takes International Interference To Task

[SatNews] “Regardless of the source of interference, the key to solving it is improving technology.”

The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) today announced that it will be running a session at Milsatcom Middle East to discuss the current hot topic of intentional interference.

Milsatcom Middle East, taking place from 7-8 May at the Ritz Carlton Canal, Abu Dhabi, is developed to meet the satellite communications needs of the Middle East military, government and security agencies and is a business platform for the regional milsatcom industry.

  As demand is growing for satellite communication technology and the increasing range of innovative solutions, the industry is taking the initiative to ensure a consistently high level of service, free of radio frequency interference. In this interesting panel, IRG will be joined by manufacturers, and partners, to outline steps being undertaken to address interference using technology, and measures being introduced by operators, regulators and system providers that can help their efforts.

“Regardless of the source of interference, the key to solving it is improving technology,” commented Martin Coleman, Executive Director, the Satellite Interference Reduction Group. “We are pleased that the DVB has approved the new Carrier ID (CID) technology for standardization, now we need to ensure it is implemented. We are also working with Geolocation providers to improve that technology further.”

  The panel will discuss resolution possibilities through both CID and Geolocation technology.

  The session will be moderated by IRG’s Executive Director, Martin Coleman. He will be joined by:

Bob Potter, President, SAT Corporation;
Koen Willems, Market Director Government & IP Trunking, Newtec;
Mazen Nazaar, CEO, Mena Nets and Consultant, GVF;
Kevin Haymes, Director of Global Sales, Space, Siemens Convergence Creators

  The panel will be taking place at 1pm on Wednesday 8th May.
