Gilat Telecom Keeps 'em Connected On the Go, Anywhere with Iridium's CertusSM

Iridium Certus(SM) can now offer customers a wider variety of fixed and “on-the-move” connectivity solutions as a result of their partnership with Gilat Telecom which was chosen as a service provider.

No doubt the connectivity is improved due to the fact that the Iridium satellite constellation has 66 crosslinked, Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellites and is designed to provide consistent data speeds everywhere on the planet. Other traditional geostationary networks experience degraded performance at higher latitudes or may be blocked entirely by mountains or other obstructions.

The Iridium Certus service provides the fastest reliable L-band satellite broadband connectivity on the market with high-quality voice calling and low latency IP data with speeds debuting at 352 Kbps, and upgradable to 704 Kbps download speeds in the future.

The service will feature a range of data speed options and will integrate with the robustly designed Thales MissionLINK™ terminal.

Gilat Telecom will use the Iridium Certus service to provide connectivity to both remote work sites and moving vehicles that have a Thales MissionLINK terminal because the hardware used is small and able to withstand harsh conditions.
