On The Show Floor... SSPAs For 4K/8K Ultra HD Reveal From Advantech Wireless At IBC2016

For HTS networks that are transmitting broadcast, broadband or a hybrid mix of these services, there is a new GaN-based SSPA that combines with a new terminal that could well be ideal for such business needs.

From Advantech Wireless comes their new generation of Gallium Nitride (GaN) based SSPAs that are designed for 4K/8K Ultra HD transmission broadcasting and are DVB-S2X ready. They provide a 70 percent increase in linear transmit power, super high linearity and field proven reliability with a fraction of the size, weight and power. This is the new FLS-5000 and is, according to the company, the world's first 500 Megasymbol/second (Msym/S) modular system in a single 1 RU unit. Used is the time slice number (TSN) concept that's embedded in the DVB-S2X standard, which enables the sharing of the link among numerous service providers—this capability to share a single DVB-S2X modulated carrier among many users for transmissions of up to 500 Msym/S with roll-offs down to 1 percent is unique in the industry.

Advantech Wireless will be showcasing their new high speed broadcasting datalink solution at IBC2016 in Amsterdam. Their booth is No. 1.F40 for a personal viewing of this, and other, Advantech Wireless offerings.
