Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC), the national satellite communications operator of Russia, is going to develop DTH satellites Express-AT1 and Express-AT2. A minimum of 25 percent of the satellites' capacity is planned to be used for developing digital TV platforms in 3D and HDTV format in the Russian Federation.
RSCC has been completing the preparation of the satellite documentation. The spacecraft are scheduled to be launched into GEO in 2012. The DTH satellite Express-AT1 will replace the satellite Bonum-1 and will be placed at 56 degrees East. The satellite footprint will cover the European part of Russia, the Urals, and Eastern Siberia. The satellite capacity will be used for DTH platforms as well as for development of new projects in the field of satellite DTH TV broadcasting, including HDTV and the application of new 3D technologies.
