[SatBroadcasting(tm)] Front Porch Digital has revealed that Encompass Digital Media is in the process of expanding its use of the DIVArchive(r) content storage management (CSM) solution to its facilities in Atlanta, Ga., and London.

Currently, DIVArchive facilitates secure distribution and preservation of more than 1.5 petabytes of content for Encompass's Los Angeles channel origination operation. At Encompass, DIVArchive interfaces with a Spectra Logic data tape library and Encompass's various transmission platforms to ensure safe, secure transfer of media files to playout or wherever they're needed in the system. In addition to its Los Angeles and Atlanta facilities, Encompass is acquiring the Ascent Media Content Distribution Group. After the close of this transaction, scheduled for February 28, 2011, Encompass' scale and geographic footprint will expand to include facilities in London and Singapore as well as Minneapolis, Stamford, Conn., and Burbank, Calif. All told, the company will provide 24/7 origination services for more than 300 channels. The DIVArchive CSM, with its comprehensive feature set and scalable architecture, will provide Encompass with all the options needed to support continued growth and added services for its clients, including the ability to perform remote content browsing using low-resolution proxies. As a common platform throughout Encompass, DIVArchive will also support disaster recovery and content transfer among facilities.
