Sub-Saharan Service From Globalstar Empowers Geoforce

[SatNews] Geoforce, Inc., a provider of Track and Trace and asset management solutions for the oil and gas sector and adjacent industries, announced the additional expansion of its global footprint for GPS tracking of field equipment using the Globalstar Simplex network.

Service for sub-Saharan Africa will be commercially available January 1st based on the opening of Globalstar's new gateway in Botswana. Since Geoforce's inception in 2007, Globalstar has provided underlying satellite service for Geoforce's Track and Trace solutions for global traceability of field equipment.  With the addition of Globalstar's new infrastructure in southwestern Africa, its satellite coverage will extend to nearly 100 percent of all oil and gas producing regions.  Satellite service is required to provide coverage in regions with limited cellular coverage.  These range from the North Slope of Alaska, to many remote shale basins in North America, and most of the major offshore producing regions of the world, including the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, offshore Brazil, West Africa, Australia and Southeast Asia.

Already operating in six continents, Geoforce will now be able to offer complete worldwide support for its satellite based GPS tracking devices, and Track and Trace software applications. These products include the revolutionary GT1, the world's only IECEx/ATEX certified Zone 0 GPS tracking device, and the new GT0, the world's smallest commercial satellite tracking device.

"The Globalstar network offers some unique competitive advantages which have made it the ideal choice for Geoforce," said James MacLean III, President and CEO of Geoforce.  "In the oil and gas industry, in particular, there is a requirement for borderless global equipment tracking.  And oil and gas field equipment usually must be tracked with a low power, intrinsically safe, battery operated, satellite based GPS tracking device, No other network currently offers the combination of ubiquitous global coverage and low power consumption, which not only allows for extended battery life, but also enables us to meet the world's most stringent explosive safety ratings."

"Globalstar has supported the phenomenal growth of Geoforce since its inception," said Jay Monroe, Globalstar CEO.  "Today, Geoforce has the largest satellite tracking deployment in the oilfield and is the clear leader in this category.  Our continued investment in our network continues to pay dividends for Geoforce and its customers."
