NovelSat and ATEME Enhance Their Collaborative Efforts

NovelSat has extended their technology cooperation with ATEME — the new collaboration between the long-time partners includes the integration of NovelSat’s state of the art PCIe-based NS10C Satellite Modulator cards and NS20C Satellite Demodulator cards into the ATEME’s TITAN software converged headend solution.

This new integration was rolled out to offer broadcasters enhanced solution for HD and Ultra HD transmission by including high-efficiency satellite signal modulation within single unit video encoding/decoding, compression and acceleration.

TITAN© Live from ATEME is a high-quality, HD video software compression solution, designed for Cable, DTH and OTT live delivery of mobile, SD, HD and 4K Ultra HD content. TITAN Live is a True virtualized software-based solution, based on the ATEME 5th Generation STREAM© compression engine. It delivers the highest video quality at minimum bitrates with accelerated parallel processing.

The PCIe-based NS10C and NS20C satellite modulator and demodulator cards from NovelSat are designed for easy integration into any PC-based satellite broadcast platform. They are ideal for both terrestrial and space-side OEM satellite broadcast applications including mobile flyaways and SNGs. Designed to meet the demands of any broadcast application, the new NovelSat cards support all satellite transmission standards, including DVB-S/S2/S2X, DVB-CID and NovelSat NS4, as well as the NovelSat DRM (Digital Rights Management) license. The PCIe form factor reduces space and equipment demands, power consumption and maintenance.

When equipped with the optional NovelSat NS4 waveform, the NS10C/NS20C cards support high data rates of up to 425Mbps using 80Msps, enabling transmission of a single carrier over an entire 84MHz transponder. NovelSat NS4 delivers satellite bandwidth savings of up to 45% compared with DVB-S2 and 21% vs. DVB-S2X. The NS20C also packs groundbreaking signal processing methods such as an adaptive equalizer and error correction techniques that enable the receiver to be more resilient to impairments.

Remi Beaudouin, ATEME VP Marketing, noted that the past collaboration efforts with NovelSat have led to successful technology solutions that provide significant advantages and savings for satellite broadcasters. Integrating NovelSat modulators and demodulators into ATEME's TITAN platform is another great example of how complementary technologies are even more powerful together.

Efi Levinzon, NovelSat CPO, added that the company engineers and the firm's colleagues at ATEME continue to single-mindedly design solutions that are easy to integrate so that the unique benefits of both systems can be combined into unified, cost-saving ‘super-solutions. NovelSat's PCIe-based satellite modulator and demodulator cards offer unmatched bandwidth efficiency. Together with ATEME’s high-quality, low-bitrate encoding and decoding, the TITAN platform is an easy choice for satellite broadcasters.
