Forrester Reports: Twenty-Four Percent Air Feeds Improvement for Eutelsat

Journalist Chris Forrester has reported at the Advanced Television infosite that Eutelsat has stated that, globally, there are now 155 Ultra-HD channels or feeds on air and that's up 24 percent on the firm's position in March of 2018.

Michael Chabrol, Eutelsat’s SVP/New TV Formats, using data and analysis from Lyngsat, various UHD Forums and its own research, said that there are now 60 UHD channels being carried by various satellites, another 93 services available by IPTV operators and two DTT channels.

Chabrol was addressing delegates to the MIPTV focus on UHD which opened in Cannes on April 8th.

While the four-day event is focused on 4K/UHD excellence, it is also debuting 8K at the market, with the world’s first all-8K ‘next generation’ screenings on Tuesday (April 9th).

Panels and screenings in 4K come from Spain, Germany, Russia, Japan, France, Finland and India, while 8K screenings feature content from Japan, the USA, France and Italy.
