Cobham SATCOM: On the IBC2019 Show Floor with Three New VSAT Terminals

Cobham SATCOM has launched three new VSAT terminals: EXPLORER 6100 Ku, EXPLORER 6075LX and EXPLORER 3100 Ku, as well as a low profile BGAN on-the-move terminal EXPLORER 323 — Cobham’s EXPLORER portfolio can be checked out at the company's IBC2019 stand 1.F05.

The latest VSAT addition to Cobham’s market-leading EXPLORER portfolio, the EXPLORER 6000 Series, is the first ever range of Fly-Away VSATs featuring the unique stabilization technology known from the EXPLORER 8000 Drive-Away systems.

The EXPLORER 6100 Ku answers demands within the market for a lightweight and stabilized 1 meter Ku-band Auto-Acquire Fly-Away terminal and offers high-performance connectivity across locations and environments. This is possible through Cobham’s proven Dynamic Pointing Correction (DPC) technology, which counteracts movements such as strong winds, people bumping against the antenna and deployment adjustments to ensure the antenna maintains a strong satellite link. EXPLORER 6100 Ku comes in different BUC size options to cater for the different customer and network requirements.

The EXPLORER 6075LX is the 0.75 meter Ka-Band variant specially developed for Inmarsat’s Global Xpress Land service. With the embedded GX Modem the antenna offers a true global and lightweight solution that provides seamless access to high-speed, mobile satellite broadband. The system is easily deployed within minutes, and combined with DPC technology, it is ideally suited for the highly mobile nature of outside newsgathering, emergency response and military applications.

The launch of EXPLORER 6000 comes as Cobham also introduces the EXPLORER 3100 Ku, a manual-point Fly-Away system with a 1 meter reflector and a 20W Ku-Band BUC. Its 7-piece carbon fiber reflector and carbon tripod deliver a precise blend of lightweight design and strength and durability.

This week also marks the announcement of EXPLORER 323, an ultra-compact Communications-On-The-Move (COTM) Inmarsat BGAN terminal with the lowest profile available on the market today. A one-of-a-kind terminal, EXPLORER 323 is the first BGAN designed for Inmarsat’s new vehicular service that is expected to release later this year.

Henrik Nørrelykke, VP Global Sales & Marketing, Land, Cobham SATCOM, said that the company thrives on pushing the boundaries of technology in order to support the growing ambitions of the firm's customers, who require reliable connectivity while working in remote and challenging terrains. With the Dynamic Pointing technology gaining increasing traction in the market, the company believes the launch of EXPLORER 6000 Series during the IBC show in Amsterdam is both timely and important; further underlining our commitment to excellence and innovation.
