The awards are perhaps the equivilent to Hollywood's Academy Awards for acting, only these awards represent a much larger atmosphere. The California Space Authority (CSA) is a nonprofit corporation representing the commercial, civil, and national defense/homeland security interests of California's diverse space enterprise community in all four domains: industry, government, academia, and workforce.
Designated as California's Spaceport Authority, CSA is a member-based "enterprise" association working closely with stakeholders statewide to facilitate California's competitiveness and space enterprise vitality.
Comprised of space-related companies, entrepreneurs, government agencies, and academic research programs, California space enterprise provides or supports the delivery of hundreds of space-related products and services. A $31B business representing 21 percent of the global space market, California space enterprise provides over 370,000 jobs statewide and $19.4B in wages.
CSA is seeking nominations for the following categories.
- Space Entertainment
- Federal Leadership
- State Leadership
- Space Science Research.
"CSA is now accepting nominations from its membership and public-sector collaborative participants for this year's California SpotBeam Award recipients," stated the Honorable Andrea Seastrand, Executive Director of the California Space Authority (CSA). The Califiornia SpotBeam Awards Dinner is currently scheduled for Wednesday evening, November 17, 2010 at the Proud Bird Restaurant, near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
