ASC will leverage the nexgen platform to introduce new services for existing and prospective customers. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology. Based on the DVB-S2 standard with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), the network will provide broadband voice and data services over Ku-band, delivering significant gains in bandwidth efficiency and throughput rates. The network expands ASC’s investment in the iDirect platform to introduce multiple service plans to support a wide array of bandwidth intensive and real-time IP applications across the mining, oil and gas, government, maritime, enterprise and small business markets. ASC plans, over time, to move its existing customers onto the Evolution network so that they can use their current bandwidth more efficiently and expand the number and types of applications that can be run over their individual networks, such as interactive video. Eventually, ASC intends to upgrade all its existing hubs to Evolution, expanding its DVB-S2 network across the Asia Pacific region, to further strengthen its market leadership. The DVB-S2 network with ACM features iDirect Evolution X3 Series Satellite Routers, Evolution XLC-10 Line Cards and the SkyCelerator TCP network accelerator that includes advanced encryption to support VPN solutions. ASC plans to leverage iDirect’s iVantage network management software to create a web portal through which its customers can view real-time and historical performance data and usage statistics in an effort to ensure peak efficiency.
