Hughes Network Systems, LLC (Hughes) presented its latest product and service innovations at its annual seminar in Singapore on June 22, held during the CommunicAsia2011 conference and exhibition. Approximately 140 participants representing customers, service providers, systems integrators, and satellite operators from around the region attended. Highlighting this year's seminar were the latest developments in Ka-band satellite technology and services, including advanced dual Ka/Ku-band HN Systems and terminals, along with HX System 'broadband-on-the-move' solutions for maritime, aeronautical, and trains.
Hughes continues to remain the undisputed leader in the global VSAT market, consistently holding more than 50 percent market share according to the latest COMSYS VSAT report. In 2010, Hughes shipped a record of over 320,000 broadband satellite terminals globally and crossed the 2.5 million mark cumulatively. HughesNet® consumer broadband satellite Internet service is the world's largest, with over 650,000 subscribers in North America; more than 60 percent operate over SPACEWAY® 3, the company's award-winning Ka-band, switch-in-the-sky satellite. Jupiter™ is Hughes' next-generation, Ka-band, 100+ Gbps, high-throughput satellite system, with 100 times the capacity of conventional Ku-band satellites, and will be launched in the first half of 2012.
