Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI) and Australia's Hills Industries Limited group (ASX:HIL), through its DGTEC business, have entered into a multi-year patent license agreement for interactive program guide (IPG) patents owned by Rovi. The agreement provides Hills Industries with a license to the IPG patents under Rovi's patent portfolio for its Hills, DGTEC and other branded STBs, TVs, and PVRs in the Australian market. This includes CE products developed under the Freeview brand, under the agreement between Rovi and Freeview announced in October of 2009.
