EMCORE Corporation (Nasdaq:EMKR), a leading provider of compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the fiber optics and space solar power markets, announced today the introduction of the OTS-RSU 3 GHz RF Redundancy Switch Units (RSU) for the Optiva platform. The Optiva platform includes a wide range fiber optic transport products for satellite and microwave communications from 1 MHz to 40 GHz.
The OTS-RSU series supports satellite signal transport link redundancy applications for 1x2, 1x4 and 1x8 redundant switch configurations when integrated with Optiva RF fiber optic transmitters and receivers. Optiva OTS 3 GHz RSU's are ideal for minimizing the amount of spare equipment required by broadcast and cable operators while still maintaining link redundancy and back-up for multiple channels.
They feature 50 and 75 Ohm BNC or 50 Ohm SMA connector options, dedicated Comm-Link for rapid switching response, and automatic and manual redundancy modes. Additional features include manual position/enable select button, channel status and switch position LED, and LNB power pass-through.

"This makes the OTS-RSU series a complete optical switching platform for our customers," added Weiss. All Optiva Redundancy Switch Units provide SNMP monitoring and control. They can be housed in the same chassis and monitored by the same Network Management System (NMS) as Optiva HD video, audio, serial data, and USB extension and distribution cards to support the transport of multiple signal formats and frequency bands in a single flexible platform. The OTSRSU series is CE & CSA certified and RoHS compliant.
