Comm-For-Rails A Starling Specialty

Starling Advanced Communications is unveiling StarRail, the newest entry in its portfolio of flat-panel satellite antennas for "Broadband on the Move" at CommunicAsia 2009, June 16-19 in Singapore at booth #6E1-01 — StarRail provides broadband communications aboard high-speed trains.

Starling StarRail graphic Starling products leverage Ku-band and coherent multi-panel antenna technology (CoMPATM), allowing powerful multi Mbps performance for voice, streaming Internet and video as well as the transmission of other types of heavy files, supporting all passenger and crew applications simultaneously. Measuring but 38-in/96 cm in diameter, and weighing a mere 60 lbs/27 kg with a low profile of 7.5 in/19 cm, the unit’s aerodynamic design ensures virtually no interference with surrounding power lines and complete tunnel clearance.

All RF and electronic components are integrated within one self-contained unit, ensuring fast and easy one-wire installation, reducing downtime as well as long-term maintenance costs. The antenna design itself ensures maximum efficient use of bandwidth and beam width, significantly reducing the cost of satellite time. StarRail complies with all railway standards, and its features make it an ideal solution for cross-continent and international high-speed rail travel across any type of terrain. Starling will also feature StarCar at CommunicAsia. StarCar is a roof-mounted, lightweight unit for police cars, ambulances, and search and rescue vehicles that provides reliable communications for critical communications, especially when the land-based network is unavailable.
