Vizada... Making Maritime Broadband'ier (SATCOM)

[SatNews] Vizada has launched their proprietary VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) fixed satellite communications service, the latest addition to its maritime broadband portfolio.

The company announced the launch at the Seatrade Middle East Maritime Conference in Dubai. Vizada’s new VSAT service will help meet increasing market demand for high-performance broadband connectivity at sea. Based on iDirect technology, the service provides standard IP data speeds of more than 1 Mbps for multiple applications such as internet, email and VoIP. The connectivity emulates that of corporate networks and an always on service permits unlimited data transfer. The service also enables crew on board merchant vessels, tankers and oil & gas platforms to use voice and data services simultaneously with near global coverage.

As with all Vizada’s standard base connectivity services, Vizada’s VSAT service is combined with one or a range of Vizada Solutions™ to improve data transfer, increase security, and help control communications costs. The VSAT service is the most recent addition to Vizada’s extensive maritime broadband portfolio, which includes Inmarsat FleetBroadband and Iridium OpenPort, and aims at offering customers significant choice in terms of data connectivity speeds, coverage, terminal and antenna size. It now also enables Vizada to match the dual requirements of many of its shipping company users by bundling the maritime VSAT with Inmarsat Fleetbroadband.
