Resolute Mining Connects Syama Operations to the Cloud with SES Networks

Resolute Mining Limited is revolutionizing their operations in Mali by bringing high-speed, low-latency connectivity to their Syama mining site by implementing the fully-managed SES Networks satellite data connectivity solution to enable enterprise cloud applications and to enhance safety and productivity.

Resolute Mining is building the world’s first, purpose-built, fully automated, sub-level cave gold mine at Syama and is adopting high-speed connectivity that enables the use of high-tech applications and equipment, among other capabilities. SES Networks’ fiber-like service delivered via the O3b MEO satellite constellation extends the high-capacity fiber-optic network that Resolute Mining is installing throughout the mine.

Executive Comments

Jodie Hatch, CTO at Resolute Mining, said this SES Networks solution is a game-changer, as it allows the company an unprecedented level of digitization of the remote mining site in Syama, bringing the same high speeds as if it was via fiber. With this transformational capability, the firm can increase technology adoption and, as a result, increase our safety and productivity performance.

Carole Kamaitha, VP of Fixed Data Sales Africa at SES Networks, said the company is delighted to deliver this fiber-like connectivity service to Resolute Mining, enabling them to make a technological leap and adopt cutting-edge solutions and applications in this remote location in Mali. In addition, the fully-managed solution means that Resolute Mining can focus on their business and the applications required to increase productivity, instead of network management.
