Jumping Juniper!... Networks Celebrated As Best Carrier

[SatNews] The gala in Amsterdam revealed the winner.

Juniper Networks [NYSE: JNPR] announced it received a Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC) Award at a prestigious gala held in Amsterdam, Netherlands as part of the recent CEWC event. The MX960 3D Universal Edge Router was named the winner in the "Best Carrier Ethernet Core Product" category.

"Service providers around the globe are trying to keep pace with the exploding bandwidth demands being driven by our consumer expectations and business requirements for fast and reliable access to data and video applications on mobile devices — but their infrastructure budgets remain under tight pressure," stated Michael Howard, co-founder and principal analyst at Infonetics Research and one of the award judges. "Juniper's MX Series is one of the industry's most versatile and scalable routing platforms designed to address a range of deployments, which enable service providers to do more with their networks while keeping costs under control."

Juniper Networks developed the MX Series to enable enterprises and service providers to meet the increasingly stringent requirements for network quality of service, performance, availability and flexibility. The MX960 delivers the high density Layer 2 and Layer 3 performance with the three dimensional scaling across subscribers, services and bandwidth necessary for advanced Ethernet requirements.

"The MX960 delivers a high-performance network infrastructure with fast, secure and reliable delivery of mission-critical applications," said Luc Ceuppens, vice president of product marketing at Juniper Networks. "I'm especially honored that Juniper's innovation has been validated by the judging panel, which was comprised of many of the leading analyst firms that cover the networking industry, including Informa Group, Infonetics, Ovum, Current Analysis and IDC."

The MX Series delivers the industry's broadest bandwidth and throughput scalability, ranging from 20 Gigabits per second in the MX5 up to an industry-leading 3.8 Terabits per second in the MX960. The complete MX Series product portfolio is powered by a common chipset and a single operating system, Junos®, with the open Junos SDK that allows developers to build custom network applications. The MX Series can be used for campus and data center core aggregation and as a WAN gateway with support for VPLS services for multi-point connectivity, Ethernet aggregation at the campus/enterprise edge and Virtual Leased Line for point-to-point services. Full support is also included for MPLS VPNs throughout the network and aggregation at the multiservice edge.

The awards, presented by IIR Telecoms & Technology and the Metro Ethernet Forum, are designed to recognize excellence and leadership in the development, marketing and delivery of Carrier Ethernet Services.
