C-COM... Antenna Assistance During Critical Times (SATCOM)

[SatNews] C-COM Satellite Systems Inc. (TSXV: CMI) has received its largest order to date for its iNetVu® mobile antenna products from one of its resellers in Japan.

The iNetVu® Mobile satellite antenna orders were received from C-COM’s Japanese reseller Telemann Communications Co., Ltd. in Tokyo and were a follow up on the initial orders from Japan, reported previously. More than 100 iNetVu® mobile antenna systems were shipped within three days of an urgent request for assistance to replace downed cellular towers in the tsunami affected regions of Japan. A total of 210 units have been delivered to date, with another 100 units expected to ship before the end of May.

The iNetVu® mobile antennas are providing emergency cellular back-up communications to one of Japan’s large cellular operators, which is integrating these with their own proprietary pico cell technology using IPSTAR satellite bandwidth. C-COM has dispatched a number of its employees to the tsunami affected regions of Japan, free of charge, to assist Telemann with the quick deployment of the antennas which were able to deliver cellular communications to the affected areas within 8 minutes of arrival.

“The C-COM iNetVu® antenna systems worked flawlessly from day one and continue to operate without fail. In a country like Japan where earthquakes are not uncommon, the C-COM antenna offers unmatched capabilities such as the unattended feature, which when enabled, automatically re-points the antenna to the satellite in case the earthquake has moved the system from its original position and disabled its ability to communicate. This standard feature of the iNetVu® antenna controller is invaluable in a country like Japan.” said Mr. Yoshiya Kato, President of Telemann Communications Ltd.

“IPSTAR and C-COM have been working together in the Asia Pacific region for a number of years. IPSTAR’s advanced proprietary solution for cellular backhaul including on-demand bandwidth service coupled with the fully IPSTAR integrated iNetVu® mobile antenna systems, provide our customers the most competitive solution. This combined solution has been successfully deployed and proven itself during this recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami.” said Mr. Yasuto Tanaka, country representative of IPSTAR Japan.

“All of us at C-COM are mindful of the suffering the people of Japan have experienced over the past few months and we wish them quick recovery from the effects of the earthquake. We are very pleased to have been able to provide assistance through the rapid delivery of large quantities of iNetVu® mobile antennas to our reseller in Japan and help deploying these in a timely manner to deliver life saving communications to the tsunami affected areas of Japan.” said Leslie Klein, President and CEO of C-COM.
