ISPCS - Symposium's "Go For Purpose" Commercial Space Event Upcoming...

The leaders of the global commercial space industry will soon meet at the 13th annual International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS) in Las Cruces, New Mexico, for the most original and uniquely curated commercial space industry event of the year — this year’s theme is “Go For Purpose,” which will focus on maintaining continuity in the underlying purpose of the industry as more new systems begin to reach the marketplace.

ISPCS, which will take place on October 11 and 12, provides the opportunity for industry leaders, along with academia, state and federal government officials to share and deepen their common vision for personal and commercial spaceflight. The fascinating high desert of New Mexico is a perfect setting at the perfect time of year to experience the Symposium, and all that the Land of Enchantment has to offer. ISPCS 2017 occurs at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The intimate setting for the symposium allows industry leaders and their customers to cultivate relationships and shape future partnerships, benefiting the commercial and personal space industry as a whole.

ISPCS 2017 will feature 35 speakers, selected from multiple sectors in our economy. Some of the subjects that will be covered include: factors that drive economic growth; the investment banking perspective on NASA and the aerospace industry; developing a space market through team mentality; technology’s role in expanding the new low-Earth economy; the space radiation environment; operational reusability; sustainable and affordable interplanetary transportation; living and working environments of commercial space systems; vernacular architecture; additive manufacturing in the rocket industry. Patricia C. Hynes, Ph.D., curator of ISPCS, noted that dependence on capital is no longer a barrier to entry. Expertise in capital acquisition is one more field mastered by the builders of space hardware and systems who come to ISPCS. Now is the time to focus on sustaining direction and the essential purpose of providing safe, reliable and affordable access to space for a diverse market. The purpose of ISPCS is the help grow the industry, and growth requires people. The shared vision is to assure the evolution of the systems that take humans and cargo to space. The audience will hear from federal agency leaders who are partnering with the industry’s purpose-driven founders and innovators. If ever there was a time and place to communicate our purpose as an industry, this is the time. And ISPCS is the place.
