[SatNews] SatNews at MILCOM'13 involves meetings, strategizing, sore feet, frantically remembering names and titles and... 'working hard'. However, later there's that special event that translates to 'hardly working' and miles of smiles...

One major event that SatNews Publisher Silvano Payne enjoyed was hosted by Comtech Xicom. This reception was held at the Marriott San Diego Glass Lamp Quarter - Latitude.

Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., provider of high power amplifier products for satellite communication (SATCOM) announces new military satellite communication (MIL-SATCOM) solid-state power amplifier block upconverters will be presented during MILCOM'13.

At MILCOM'13, Xicom will be showcasing its new generation of 50-Watt X-Band and 40-Watt Ku-Band solid-state high power amplifiers (SSPAs). High-power solid-state Block Upconverter (BUC) Model XTS-50X-B1 is a DC-Powered X-Band Amplifier, offering 47 dBm of Output Power and 45 dBm Linear Power. Model XTS-40KHE-B1 is a DC-Powered Ku-Band Amplifier, offering 47 dBm of Output Power and 43 dBm Linear Power.

Both BUCs are packaged in the same lightweight 10.0-pound, 11.2-in. x 4.4-in. x 5.4-in. configuration. The compact outdoor unit (ODU) is construction specifically for outdoor use allowing for direct mount to the antenna. This eliminates long waveguide runs and associated RF losses. Both lightweight models are designed for rugged, mobile environments. With the same package configurations, changing from X-band to Ku-band is a simple process when required.

Model XTS-40KHE-B1 is one of the new "Green Powered By Xicom Technology" designed amplifiers focusing on user cost savings including lower power consumption, reduced fuel and charging requirements.
