Ku- Connectivity For Maritime Finds DH-INTERCOM & SpeedCast Partnering Together

With a fleet of 50 vessels sailing around the world, German-based DH-INTERCOM ("DHI") provides comms and IT services directly to the maritime industry.

To ensure global Ku-band capabilities for their clients, DHI has partnered with SpeedCast International (ASX: SDA) in order to leverage that firm's global satellite infrastructure to provide high speed, high-throughput connectivity to customers who wish to offer crew access to Internet services as well as gain greater efficiency on the vessels via remote monitoring and operation applications.

Piers Cunningham, the Vice President of Maritime Services for SpeedCast observed that his firm is witnessing an increasing demand for high speed, high-throughput connectivity from the maritime industry, as ship owners need to run more bandwidth-demanding apps on their vessels to improve operational efficiency and provide for better crew welfare. He indicated that SpeedCast is well poised to provide solutions for this growing connectivity demand thanks to their global Ku-band network.
