A worldwide provider of end-to-end connectivity and media to the aviation, maritime and land mobility markets has just announced a new appointment to handle sales and service for the firm in the Middle East for their service line of maritime VSAT Solutions.
Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. (GEE) (NASDAQ:ENT) named Elcome International as that party and they will employ their network of engineering and service facilities across the Middle East and South Asia to install, commission, provision and service EMC’s Ku-band VSAT systems. Elcome will also provide shipboard service and satellite airtime plans.
Elcome and EMC are currently working under a fleet-wide VSAT contract for a major tanker operator. The contract includes global voice, data, managed internet and live TV programming for crew entertainment. Elcome is also serving as the primary customer interface for worldwide service for that operator.
In the opinion of Gilles Gillesen, EMC’s senior vice president for commercial shipping, Elcome’s service operation will include branch offices from Singapore to Suez—a flyaway service that is truly global.
