Snell... Feature Set Expansions To Debut (SatBroadcasting™)

Snell will display version 2 of its Morpheus ICE automation product at BroadcastAsia2010. The new release boasts an expansion of Morpheus' feature set and full ratification for running in a virtual machine environment.

Snell will demonstrate a playout solution that runs on Morpheus ICE, providing unmatched system density while offering a fully resilient architecture. The vastly reduced hardware requirement of Morpheus ICE significantly lowers power consumption and at the same time brings additional redundancy to IT-based hardware. Other new functionality for Snell's playout solutions includes "enhanced join in progress" to help broadcasters manage overruns in live events and a new Media Ball(tm) configuration tool which assists in taking new channels to air more quickly. Morpheus ICE Version 2's support for 720p further expands the capabilities of this channel-in-a-box solution. Another key enhancement is the automation system's support for closed captions, an improvement that builds on the file-agnostic philosophy of Morpheus by enabling acceptance of the main industry-standard closed caption formats.

The Company will also present their new Archangel Ph.C – HD, an advanced SD and HD restoration system with real-time dirt, dust, grain, noise, scratch, instability, and flicker removal. First introduced at the 2010 NAB Show, Archangel Ph.C – HD unlocks the value of existing assets, ensuring that SD and HD content can be distributed in superb quality. The restoration system also brings significant improvements to users' workflows by maximizing the amount of restoration that can be completed in real time. Snell's flagship Alchemist Ph.C – HD, with Emmy(r) Award-winning Ph.C motion measurement technology, will also be on display. The Alchemist Ph.C-HD now features 1080p capability, which empowers users to deliver content to any standard without compromising picture quality or clarity. In addition to Dolby E transcoding and decoding already offered in Alchemist Ph.C – HD, the enhanced Dolby E Authoring option also enables encoding (PCM>Dolby E) with more comprehensive audio routing control.

Snell will also highlight two new additions to the Kudos Plus line of cost-effective rack-mountable standards and format converters. The new CVR800 frame-rate and format converter and the TBS800 format converter and synchronizer both offer a range of features and functionality, including support for 3Gb/s operations and composite video I/O, designed specifically to improve efficiency in the broadcast workflow and a powerful range of user-controllable enhancement tools to enable users to obtain their preferred visual effect.
