Harris Corporation... Geospatial Goodness (Mentoring)
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has been selected by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to participate in a mentor-protégé program with Spatial Data Integrations Inc., designated as a women- and minority-owned small business in the geospatial industry. The NGA Mentor-Protégé Program solicits prime contractors to act as mentors to assist small and small disadvantaged businesses in developing technical and business capabilities that will help them compete successfully for prime contract and subcontracts. It is based on a similar Department of Defense (DoD) program in which Harris has participated for the past 10 years, helping small businesses mature, expand and compete in the marketplace.
NGA specifically selects mentor-protégé agreements that are creative, unique and provide a 50-percent technology transfer component in such areas as geo-intelligence, visualization, all aspects of the electromagnetic spectrum, and tasking, processing, exploitation and dissemination (TPED). Harris will mentor Spatial Data Integrations (SDI) in the areas of remotely sensed data processing and quality assurance tools and processes related to cost-efficient feature data collection. SDI, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is a full-service provider of geospatial services to government agencies, utility companies and private-sector businesses.
