Wavestream... Digital Teflon For Transmissions (SatBroadcasting™)

[SatNews] Wavestream Corporation is now making available Redundancy Kits to complement the company’s family of PowerStream(tm) Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) and Block Upconverter (BUC) products supporting broadcast satellite communications systems. The new Redundancy Kits leverage existing Wavestream controller technology and provide an integrated solution to ensureuninterrupted, reliable broadcast satellite transmissions.

Each Redundancy Kit supports Wavestream’s recently introduced PowerStream 600W C-band indoor and outdoor solid state power amplifiers, as well as the company’s outdoor Ku-band Block Upconverters (BUCs) targeting the satellite broadcast market. In a redundant configuration, Wavestream amplifiers have no power draw in stand-by mode and require no warm up time compared to traditional tube-based amplifiers. The result is higher reliability and reduced energy costs over the life of the system. The Redundancy Kit for Wavestream’s outdoor SSPA can accommodate a variety of customer mounting and power level requirements. For indoor data centers, customers can easily install Wavestream’s Redundancy Kit into an existing cabinet or rack configurationwithout the need for additional space or system redesign. Redundancy Kits for the PowerStream amplifiers will be available the third quarter of 2010. (Teflon is a trademark of Dupont)
