Spacecom... Hungary For More Bandwidth (SatBroadcasting™)

[SatNews] Additional bandwidth will now be supplied...

Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, has announced that it has signed a long-term contract with Magyar Telekom, the principal provider of telecommunications services in Hungary, to supply its DTH service, branded T-Home SatTV, with more bandwidth. The agreement is worth up to $7 million. When combined with a previous deal valued at $7 million, T-Home SatTV’s total expansion with AMOS in 2011 is valued at nearly $14 million. Magyar Telekom, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, broadcasts around 100 channels throughout Hungary, including four HD channels. With the additional bandwidth, the Hungarian DTH provider will be able to expand the number of channels it broadcasts and create new bouquets to increase its customer base. Magyar Telekom currently has more than 260,000 T-Home SatTV subscribers, approximately 30 percent of the local audience, according to Hungary’s National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH). The AMOS satellite fleet at the 4 degrees West orbital position serves three European DTH brands and four all together. These include: Ukraine’s Xtra, Slovakia’s Magio TV and Hungary’s T-Home SatTV - both part of the Deutsche Telekom Group - and Israel’s Yes.
