MEASAT Satellite Systems... Fun With FIFA


MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. has informed SatNews that the Company has signed an agreement with GlobeCast Asia to provide transponder capacity for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. “This will be the first time MEASAT has been involved in distributing the FIFA World Cup,” said Terry Bleakley, Vice President, Commercial Operations, MEASAT. “The MEASAT-3 satellite located at the 91.5°E orbital slot has an excellent footprint and is the ideal platform to distribute content directly from South Africa to the entire Asia Pacific region.” The World Cup 2010, FIFA’s premier international soccer tournament, is scheduled to take place between June 11th and July 11th, 2010, in South Africa. This tournament will feature 32 countries playing a total of 64 matches.
