The system is capable of decoding content from a wide variety of sources and provides operators with a broad array of input and output options. The system seamlessly integrates into the existing workflow environments in broadcast studios, cable master control, post-production studios, and most types of content-preparation, VOD, and spot distribution service providers. The update major release includes CALM Act support in addition to the following features:
Closed Captioning Overlay (open captions)
Time Code Overlay
Frame Count Overlay

Expanded File Playback support (including MXF OP1a and MXF AS02 filters)
SDI and VANC Monitoring (single channel)
Scheduled for release in early 2012 are the following additional features:
File Playback 24x7 Scheduling
LKFS audio measurement values for mandated CALM Act compliance
Quad (4-channel) SDI and VANC monitoring for Broadcasters
Vela’s Director of Engineering, Kevin Grubbs
, said, “The ArgoNavis Decoder system decodes 4:2:0 SD and 4:2:0/4:2:2 HD MPEG-2, H.264, VC1 and ProRes content - and supports a multitude of other professional quality features, such as HD/SD SDI output, genlock, optional UDP and RTP streaming, component, composite and HDMI outputs, up to 16 channels of embedded audio, analog stereo audio, AES/EBU digital audio, NTSC and PAL formats. To further enhance the value of this solution in complex and demanding workflow environments, the ArgoNavis Decoder includes 608 and 708 Closed Captioning Verification and an optional SDI & VANC Monitoring Module .” The SDI & VANC Monitor is also available as the standalone ArgoNavis Quad SDI & VANC Monitor
and allows the operator to monitor up to four channels of SD and HD video and up to 16 channels of SDI audio in real time, and operator alerts can be set to trigger if audio levels exceed user-defined thresholds. Individual channels can be selected for monitoring. It also enables users to decode and monitor 608 and 708 Closed Captioning from the VANC in real-time – and of particular interest to many of our customers, the Closed Captions can be viewed simultaneously without obstructing the video. Operators can also decode and view Active Format Descriptor (AFD), and detect Broadcast Flag and Dolby Audio Metadata.
