Vela’s Director of Engineering, Kevin Grubbs, said, “The ArgoNavis Decoder system decodes 4:2:0 SD and 4:2:0/4:2:2 HD MPEG-2, H.264, VC1 and ProRes content - and supports a multitude of other professional quality features, such as HD/SD SDI output, genlock, optional UDP and RTP streaming, component, composite and HDMI outputs, up to 16 channels of embedded audio, analog stereo audio, AES/EBU digital audio, NTSC and PAL formats. To further enhance the value of this solution in complex and demanding workflow environments, the ArgoNavis Decoder includes 608 and 708 Closed Captioning Verification and an optional SDI & VANC Monitoring Module .” The SDI & VANC Monitor is also available as the standalone ArgoNavis Quad SDI & VANC Monitor and allows the operator to monitor up to four channels of SD and HD video and up to 16 channels of SDI audio in real time, and operator alerts can be set to trigger if audio levels exceed user-defined thresholds. Individual channels can be selected for monitoring. It also enables users to decode and monitor 608 and 708 Closed Captioning from the VANC in real-time – and of particular interest to many of our customers, the Closed Captions can be viewed simultaneously without obstructing the video. Operators can also decode and view Active Format Descriptor (AFD), and detect Broadcast Flag and Dolby Audio Metadata.
