MEASAT + GlobeCast Bringing History In HD To China


The History Channel HD logo MEASAT-3 satellite (150) AETN All Asia Networks Pte. Ltd. (AAAN), a joint venture of A&E Television Networks (AETN) and ASTRO All Asia Entertainment Networks Limited (ASTRO), will launch The History Channel HD™ in Hong Kong and Singapore, the debut of The History Channel HD brand in the Asia-Pacific region. The launch will occur on September 1st in Singapore on StarHub and in Hong Kong later that month. Content delivery company GlobeCast and satellite operator MEASAT are providing a range of broadcast services in Asia for The History Channel HD, including fiber delivery to Asia as well as encryption, uplink, and capacity on the MEASAT-3 satellite platform. The satellite's footprint covers Asia, the Middle East and Africa (MENA) and currently carries an wide range of premium channels and a growing number of HD services. The signal for The History Channel HD Asia will originate from the Digital Media Centre, Chellomedia’s broadcast facility in Amsterdam. Chellomedia is providing a range of broadcast services for the channel, including creation of the HD/SDI signal for hand-off and content language versioning. The History Channel HD will be fully languaged in Chinese.
