Comtech... Networking With The USAF

ComtechTelecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced their Santa Clara, California-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc. and their Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received satellite communications equipment orders totaling $12.1 million from a major government prime contractor. The orders are for follow-on procurements of high-power tri-band amplifiers, high-power Ka-band amplifiers and satellite Earth station modems for transportable USAF satellite terminals and will be use to expand an existing military network.

Deployed throughout the world, these terminals offer users the flexibility of accessing both military and commercial satellites. The order for Comtech Xicom Technology products includes C-, X-, Ku-band tri-band amplifiers and Ka-band antenna mount amplifiers. These amplifiers feature high linear power and are operational at high ambient temperatures. Initial deliveries started in 2005 and 2006. The system is packed into transit cases and shippable on a single pallet, making it ideal for global Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) mission service.

The Comtech EF Data equipment order includes the DMD2050 Universal Satellite Modem, which complies with MIL-STD-188-165A (all terminal types) and a wide variety of international commercial standards. The DMD2050 provides highly advanced and bandwidth-efficient forward error correction (FEC), including Turbo Product Codes and Low Density Parity Check. Advanced FEC and modulation capabilities are integrated with the revolutionary DoubleTalk(r) Carrier-in-Carrier(r) bandwidth compression allowing for maximum state-of-the-art performance under all conditions.
