Newtec... "Hot Topic" Discussion @ NAB 2012 (SATCOM)

[SatNews] At NAB, on April 16th, Newtec organized a panel discussion on “Satellite Interference and Carrier ID” with important industry leaders...

...(Intelsat, SES, Eutelsat, DVB, sIRG, WBU-ISOG/RFI-EUI, ABC/Disney/RFI-EUI, CNN, Fox Networks). The session room was packed! With a turnout of more than 150 people attending the panel discussion, this was certainly a "hot" topic for the industry. Satellite operators, manufacturers, industry organisation representatives and broadcasters present in the room, all shared the same feeling: the industry is working together to fight carrier interference. By joining forces, the satellite industry community is working on a solution for its customers:

DVB, sIRG and WBU-ISOG organisations are working together to define a new standard for carrier identification.

Satellite operators are working together to test solutions, and building a database they can mutually use to track satellite interference offenders.

Equipment manufacturers are working together to get their equipment up to speed for the new standards.

Newtec believes it is important that the solution arrived at should be a standard based solution under the auspices of a recognized standardization body, such as DVB—Newtec was certainly delighted to have made their contribution to this initiative by organizing this panel, informing the audience, which all goes to help their customers.
