Hiltron Communication's Controlling Factor To Debut @ IBC2015

[SatNews] Hiltron Communications will introduce their latest-generation satellite communications controller on stand 4.B89 at IBC2015 in Amsterdam.

The HCS-Core is available in 2U high full-rack-width and half-rack-width versions. The full-rack-width model can accommodate up to 16 modules and is Hiltron’s largest and most versatile SATCOM controller to date. One card slot is occupied by the main control module, leaving two for main and spare power supply plus 13 free for whichever modules are required for a specific configuration. The half rack width version has a total of eight card slots.

Both versions can be powered direct from 24 volts DC and are operated via an intuitive web-based graphic interface. All modules are hot-pluggable to allow easy exchange. Any new or replaced module is automatically sensed and its address registered.

The following cards are currently available for the HCS-Core:

  • Monitoring, control and power supply for fibre optic devices.
  • Fiber-optic switch-over.
  • LNB redundancy systems for C band and Ku band.
  • HPA redundancy control.
  • Redundancy for DVB MPEG encoders/modulators/IRDs.
  • Generic monitoring and control

Hiltron is part of the Dan Technologies group, one of Europe's leading suppliers of audio, video, transmission products and digital media solutions.

Executive Comment

“Hiltron ComSys-Core (HCS-Core) is designed to form the central control element for a wide range of SATCOM applications,” said Managing Director Jan Molter. “These include easy switch-over between devices such as downconverters, high-power amplifiers, waveguides, MPEG digital video broadcast encoders and integrated receiver/decoders. The HCS-Core can also be used to power, control and monitor optical-fiber transceivers and to monitor and control antenna heating.”
