ND SatCom's Redundancy is Good for TDF

TDF ND SatCom, an SES ASTRA company, will deliver a turnkey redundant 5+1 uplink station for TDF’s teleport in Nantes, France at the end of 2008. The installation supports TDF’s position as a leading broadcast network operator and strengthens the company’s backup business in case there are transmission breakdowns at other urban teleports due to bad weather. TDF is a major European TV and radio transmission group. The uplink station consists of two 8.1m uplinks with five regular and one redundant channel. In addition, one 4.8m uplink will be installed for backup applications.

nantes  The uplink station is an extension to the company’s existing teleport uplink infrastructure in Nantes. TDF’s teleport in Nantes is unstaffed and operated via remote control at its playout center in Paris. The teleport at the Atlantic Coast has an unusual geographic location, as most French teleports are around Paris, which is permitted to offer, in addition to primary uplinks, backup uplinks.
